Potassium carbonate is an inorganic substance. The chemical formula is K2CO3. The molecular weight is 138.206. It appears as a white crystalline powder. Density 2.428g/cm3, melting point 891 ºC. Easy to dissolve in water, the aqueous solution is alkaline, and insoluble in ethanol, acetone, and ether. Strong hygroscopicity, can absorb carbon dioxide and water when exposed to air, and transform into potassium bicarbonate. It should be sealed and packaged.
